Heriot-Watt University was originally established as a school of science in 1821 and is named after the famous engineer James Watt, who invented the steam engine. The University is authorised by Royal Charter and has developed a strong reputation in the fields of management, engineering and science. The campus is located in Edinburgh, Scotland and also houses the Edinburgh Business School (EBS), the part of the University responsible for postgraduate business programmes. Heriot-Watt University is currently ranked No.22 in the UK for business programmes.

West London College has offered Heriot-Watt University business degree programmes since 1993 and maintains strong administrative and academic links with the University. Students studying on Heriot-Watt University programmes at West London College are also registered as students of the University and are entitled to use the University's facilities.
